Muslim Aid Yogyakarta received a mandate from Muslim Aid Central Office in Aceh to distribute 5000 fast-breaking package to orphans and dhuaffas. Through an accurate assessment, Muslim Aid Yogyakarta distributed those packages in several areas, mostly in the affected areas in District of Bantul and Klaten. Muslim Aid had indicated that no NGOs held any programmes related to Ramadhan. This became a positive point for Muslim Aid Yogyakarta as the community in Yogyakarta highly appreciated this programme. Through printed media publishment and intensive electronic media broadcasts, the good image of Muslim Aid Yogyakarta rises significantly. Aside from direct distribution to the community, Muslim Aid Yogyakarta also distributed the fast breaking packages in coordination with some elements of yogyakarta community. Some of the partners were private enterprise institutions (Jasindo, bank Mandiri, Bank Indonesia), pondok pesantren, orphanages, rumah singgah, etc. Muslim Aid Yogyakarta had also participated in fast breaking with 1000 orphans which was held in coordination between Muslim Aid and Republika in Jakarta, where the Speaker of Indonesian Parliament was present. The event was successful indicated by the congregating of 1000 orphans and national media coverage.
Zakat Fitrah
Muslim Aid Yogyakarta had a grant with the amount of IDR 50,000,000,- allocated to the provision of zakat fitrah in Yogyakarta area. Most of the allocation were distributed to the community of the slope of Mt. Merapi who were bit ignored by NGOs which focused their programmes only for the earthquake victims in Bantul and Klaten. Indeed, the community of the slope of Mt. Merapi were experiencing the economic ability decrease as the result of the eruption of Mt. Merapi and mass evacuation of people of the slope of Mt. Merapi.
The activity was concentrated in the surrounding area of Mt. Merapi, in Sub-district of Pakem, Distict of Sleman. It took place at Pondok Pesantren and Orphanage Sabilul Huda. The IDR 50,000,000,- grant of Muslim Aid Yogyakarta was used to buy C4 rice whict costed IDR 4,000,- per kg and most of them distributed to to the community around the slope of Mt. Merapi and the rest were distributed by Muslim Aid local partners such as Pemuda Muhammadiyah and local NGO Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT).
Qurbani Program
Muslim Plan to distribute meat of goat and cows under Qurbani Programs for the victims of earthquake in Klaten, Central Java. This program is basically based on Islamic holiday, Idul Adha on the 10th of Dzulhijah, the 12th month in Islamic calendar, where wealthier Moslem should provide fresh meat for the needy people.
The Building of Orphanage
Muhammadiyah orphanage is one of the oldest foundation of Muhammadiyah Indonesia. This orphanage was severely damaged in May 27 earthquake disaster. The complex of orphan hostels was totally destroyed and the mosque building and several other buildings were destroyed as well. Muslim Aid puts a deep concern on this and will donate IDR 1,000,000,000,- to rebuild of Muhammadiyah orphanage.
Sri Paduka Paku Alam IX, along with the CEO of Muslim Aid, Saefuddin Ahmad, and the Country Director of Muslim Aid Indonesia lied the first stone on August 03 2006.
Due to the internal discussion in the Re-building committee, the re-building of Muhammadiyah Orphanage is still not yet started. The committee said that the project would be started as soon as the Ramadhan over.

ELDERLY SURVIVOR OF QUAKE REBUILDS LIFE
When the earthquake struck, the 106-year old Mbah Dullah was in her bathroom.
The quake, which measured 6.2 on the Richter scale, destroyed her house. She was trapped in the ruins of her bathroom, but that did not deter this determined elderly woman.
