Who is he that will Loan to Allah a beautiful loan? for (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit, and he will have (besides) a liberal Reward. (Qur'an 57:11)

Physical Recovery
Shelter Project
The earthquake rendered around 1,4 million people homeless. In the emergency recovery phase, Muslim Aid Yogyakarta decided to support the victims of the earthquake in Bantul through the provision of temporary shelters for the affected people who were living in emergency uncomfortable tents. The project was in the collaboration with local NGOs, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT). The building of the T-Shelters was started with the signing of MOU between Muslim Aid Yogyakarta and ACT on August 3, 2006. The committed T-Shelters to be built were 260 units (each local partner had allocation of 130 units) with the amount of budget was IDR 2, 500, 000, - ($1 = IDR 9,300) per unit.
Muslim Aid with ACT set a Joint Operation which successfully won a grant from Oxfam GB Yogyakarta for building 360 units of Innovative T-Shelters within the timeline of 4 weeks with the amount of allocation per unit was IDR 1,900,000,-. The MOU were signed by Project Manager of Oxfam GB Yogyakarta, Mr. El Tayeb Musa, and the Coordinator of Muslim Aid Yogyakarta on August 7, 2006. Considering one and other thing, the amendment of MOU was published and affecting the starting date of project implementation to be August 14, 2006. This project was mostly alike with the above programme, which emphasized on:
- The full active contribution of the local beneficiaries
- The flexibility of the building regarding the availability of recycles material and the support of surrounding community.
With the completion of these T-Shelters under the funding of Oxfam, more than 1000 people of 360 households have own a temporary house before the financial grant from GOI given. Some innovation found in the implementation of this project was remarkable. Some of the houses exceeded the minimum standard agreed with a numerous number of the houses were expanded to be permanent houses. This could possibly happen as the surrounding community had a high solidarity in assisting the affected people through providing financial support or additional materials. This was surely the result from the hard continuously work of volunteers in the field and a good approach to the community.
The Building of Orphanage
Muhammadiyah orphanage is one of the oldest foundation of Muhammadiyah Indonesia. This orphanage was severely damaged in May 27 earthquake disaster. The complex of orphan hostels was totally destroyed and the mosque building and several other buildings were destroyed as well. Muslim Aid puts a deep concern on this and will donate IDR 1,000,000,000,- to rebuild of Muhammadiyah orphanage.
Sri Paduka Paku Alam IX, along with the CEO of Muslim Aid, Saefuddin Ahmad, and the Country Director of Muslim Aid Indonesia lied the first stone on August 03 2006.
