The earthquake hit Yogyakarta on May 27, 2006, at 05.54 local time still left a deep misery to this nation, mostly to the directly affected people for sure. The District of Bantul suffered the worst impact of the earthquake. This living in tranquility beyond the crowd of outside world area felt how rocking the 5,9 Richter Scale earthquake was, sending 5,750 people to death and thousands injured. More than 210,00 houses were severely damaged and destroyed rendering around 1,4 million people homeless
Muslim Aid Yogyakarta was officially established in Yogyakarta on July 21, 2006, located in the complex of Muhammadiyah Orphanage at Jl. Lowanu MG III/1361, Yogyakarta as the concern of Muslim Aid International to this disaster. The preliminary programme of Muslim Aid Yogyakarta was to built temporary and transitional shelter for people whose houses were severely destroyed by the 5.9 Richter scale earthquake hit java on 27th of May 2006.

ELDERLY SURVIVOR OF QUAKE REBUILDS LIFE
When the earthquake struck, the 106-year old Mbah Dullah was in her bathroom.
The quake, which measured 6.2 on the Richter scale, destroyed her house. She was trapped in the ruins of her bathroom, but that did not deter this determined elderly woman.
